The Modoc County Library continues to receive a California State Library “Zip Books” grant. Zip Books is a statewide project of the California State Library. The Project is funded in whole or in part by the California Library Services Act. Zip Books is administered in California by the State Librarian.
Through the Zip Book grant, if you request a book or audiobook that the Modoc County Library does not own, the Library will try to purchase the item and have it shipped directly to you.
A request can be made in person at any Modoc County Library location or by giving us a call.
When you are ready to return your Zip Book, please bring it to the same branch where you placed your request. Most of the items returned are added to the library collection for everyone to enjoy! We ask that you return your item within 30 days of receipt.
Zip Books Guidelines
- Eligible Materials: Print books and audiobooks only.
- Price Limits: Up to $50 for books and $75 for audiobooks (pre-tax).
- Who Can Request: Anyone.
- What Can Be Ordered: Items already owned by the library cannot be requested through Zip Books. However, you may request a different format of a title we own—for example, an audiobook or large print edition.
- Request Limits: Cardholders may have one Zip Book checked out at a time. Please ask the librarian if you need an exception to this policy.
- Returning Items: Please return Zip Books to the same branch where the request was made, with any accompanying paperwork if possible.
