Summer Reading Program

The Modoc County Library offers a Summer Reading Program on an annual basis. A different theme is chosen each year, and we are very excited about the 2026 "Unearth a Story" theme. Stories and crafts featuring dinosaurs/paleontology, archeology, geology, genealogy and any other thing we decide to unearth will be provided.

The summer reading program is open to children from preschool through 5th grade. There are two weekly story times offered over the summer. The first story time is the regularly scheduled preschool story time. This event is held every Thursday from 10:30-11:30. These sessions are designed for children from infants to 5 years old. During the summer, age appropriate stories, games and crafts will be offered weekly. The second story time is offered every Thursday from 3-4 p.m. and is designed for children from kindergarten through 5th grade. Age appropriate stories, games and crafts featuring the Unearth a Story theme will be offered weekly from June 8 through July 24, 2026.
