The Friends of the Modoc County Library meets at 5:00 p.m. on the 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Purposes

The purpose of this organization is to support and enhance the Modoc County Library and raise funds for same; to maintain an association of persons interested in books and libraries; to focus public attention on library services, facilities, and needs; and to stimulate gifts of books, magazines, desirable collections, endowments, and bequests.

Membership in the Friends of the Modoc County Library is available at the following levels: $5 Loyal Friend; $10.00 Family of Friends; $15 True Friend; $20 Best Friend; $25 Devoted Friend; Other, Special Friend; $250 Friend for Life. Annual membership extends from January to December. Dues may be mailed to: Friends of the Modoc County Library, 212 W. 3rd St., Alturas, CA 96101. Please include name(s), address, phone number, and e-mail address for each membership. Friends of the Modoc County Library is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, and contributions are tax deductible.

Fundraising
Members of the Friends of the Modoc County Library raise funds to help support the Library by:

Selling used books

• online at Amazon.com -- Great deals on great books! Amazon matches you with rare, collectible and quality books that have been donated to the Library and are not being added to the Library's collection.  The money you spend on these books goes to the Friends. You benefit because you can find quality books at great prices. Everyone Wins!
• at the Silent Auction at the Alturas library -- Great deals! Fun! Register and receive your bidder number at the Alturas Library's Circulation Desk. Silent Auction closes on Thursdays at 4:00 PM.
• daily at Booker T's "Top Shelf" at the Alturas library.
• at the Buck-a-Bag Bookworm -- the Friends of the Modoc County Library's used book sale facility. Located in Alturas behind the Library's headquarters at 212 West 3rd St., the Buck-a-Bag Bookworm is open Thursdays from Noon to 4pm. 
• at the Bookworm, newly relocated in the Library's west wing, is open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from Noon to 4pm.  
• and at special book sales throughout the year.
• All book sales are staffed by volunteers, and materials offered for sale have been donated. Proceeds from the sale of these items are used to benefit the Library.
