Google, schmoogle! Did you know you can “GoodSearch For Your Library”? Thanks to a wonderful fundraising website and search engine called GoodSearch, and to Joshua Baker for registering the Friends of the Modoc County Library, you can designate the Friends group as the beneficiary of your Internet searching. How does it work? Just follow these easy steps...
1. Go to the GoodSearch website at http://www.goodsearch.com .
3. When the message “Who do you GoodSearch for” appears, type “Friends of the Modoc County Library” in the box, and then click on the “Verify” button.
4. An optional registration form will appear, which you may complete if you wish to track the number of searches you do to benefit the Friends, or you may simply click on the link labeled “Continue without registering”. This will take you back to the original search box, and you are ready to search.
5. Type your search term(s) in the box, and click on the “Search” button. Voila! It’s that simple.
If your computer accepts cookies, the Friends name will now automatically appear under the search box -- “We give money to Friends of the Modoc County Library every time you search and shop online”; if not, just type it in before you search again. The Friends earn 1 cent for each search you do. One penny may not seem like much, but with the number of searches the average person does, it can really add up. And multiply that by the number of Library supporters – it can give our Friends a big boost, which in turn, helps the Modoc County Library too. So before you “Google” the next time you search the Internet, instead “GoodSearch” for your Library. We’ll be glad you did!

And here's something to think about and tell your friends...
It costs you nothing to use GoodSearch.
If you do only 5 Internet searches a day using GoodSearch (and designate the Friends of the Modoc County Library), you will earn $18.25 in a year for the Friends. ($.01 per search X 5 searches per day X 365 days per year = $18.25.)
If only 100 people do this, the Friends will earn $1825.00 a year.
If only 200 (that's only 2% of our population) people do this, the Friends will earn $3650.00 a year!
And we can go up from there!
